Hayes Center, Nebraska. Addison Richards, a 6th grader at Hayes Center Public Schools put her artistic talent to the test and was selected as “Governor’s Choice” out of all the students in her division in the state of Nebraska.  Addison lives in Hayes Center and her parents are Alicia and Derek Richards.

To celebrate National Ag Week (March 21-27), the Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) held its annual poster contest.  More than 1,700 students in grades 1-6 from all over the state entered the contest and incorporated the “Good Life” theme to show the importance of agriculture in Nebraska.

Addison’s drawing shows a beautiful sunset with a warm sun, lavender and gold hues, a field of golden wheat, a very detailed red tractor, a lush green tree line, and a Holstein looking on. The picture does a marvelous job of showing the beauty and artful simplicity of Nebraska Agriculture.  A family treasure.
